Monarch Mortality Data Tables

Compare the mortality rate between wild populations and lab populations of monarchs.  Be sure to keep larvae from each source in separate containers!  Record where you obtained the larvae, and what stage they were when you obtained them.  Keep track of the number that die in each container.

Larva source Instar stage when brought into classroom # of larvae in each container Number that died % that died

1.  For each different source of larvae, determine what percent of your larvae died (the number that died / the total number of larvae in your classroom x 100).  Record this in the chart above.

2.  For each different source of larvae, determine what percent of your larvae survived (100 - the percent that died).

3.  Are there any differences in survival rates among the larvae from different sources?  If so, what are they?
