The Institute of Technology Center for Educational Programs will offer two teacher professional development courses in the summer of 2007.  These intensive courses aim to help teachers (grades 3-8) recognize the “language of mathematics,” deepen their math content knowledge, and connect new math knowledge not only to a teacher’s school curriculum but to the bigger picture of middle school math content.  Participants will work with literacy specialists and an instructional team to develop concept-specific mathematics enrichment units adaptable for a wide range of student skills, comprehension, and experiences aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards.
